Limbs for Life to be Featured on Hit ABC Television Show

 

The Limbs for Life Foundation of Oklahoma City will be featured on the ABC
television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” at 7 p.m. CDT on May 2, 2010.
It will show footage from Limbs for Life’s recent trip to Haiti to deliver
prosthetic limbs to amputees affected by January’s earthquake.

 

The foundation’s executive director, and the show’s producers took
limbs donated by a Texas family and fit two young girls for prosthetic limbs at
L’Hôpital de la Communauté Haïtienne (Haitian Community Hospital) on April
16-18.

Limbs for Life is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides assistance to
hundreds of amputees around the world each year. It has been operating in the
Dominican Republic via a partnership with the Dominican Rehabilitation
Association for the past three years in Santo Domingo. This partnership will
allow the foundation to help Haitian patients for years to come through clinics
in the Dominican and, eventually, rebuilt clinics in Haiti.

The foundation will make its next trip to the Dominican May 10 along with
prosthetists and technicians. During their week there, they will fit Haitian
patients with prosthetic limbs and provide training to local practitioners.

Limbs for Life is located in Oklahoma City, The foundation provides financial
assistance to hundreds of amputees each year
in the United States. It also collects used limbs for distribution in
developing nations such as the Dominican Republic, Turkey and countries in
